Heidi

3 Year Old Educator

I am the Educator and Teacher for the 3 year old Possum group. I have completed a Bachelor of Early Childhood Studies at Melbourne University in 2000. Early childhood education has been a passion of mine for a long as I can remember. My first work experience was in year 10 at a childcare centre in BoxHill.
I have been in the early childhood profession for over 16 years now and have 3 wonderful children of my own.
I love getting to know all the children, finding out their interests and skills, and encouraging and guiding them in their development. I believe in creating an environment where children are comfortable and confident to explore, learn and grow. An integral part of this, I believe, is to develop strong relationships not just with the child but also with their families in order for each child to reach their full potential.
Most importantly, I want kinder to be exciting and fun, and for each child to look forward to kinder and the wonderful memories that will be made along the way.

Chris

4 Year Old Educator

Hi everyone. I’m Christine Crowther and I am the Rainbow Group teacher.
Professionally, I have worked in the early childhood sector for approximately 15 years in roles of both kindergarten assistant and teacher.
Personally, I have three adult children, a crazy dog and love to travel. I believe that kindergarten should be fun. As you would know, children learn through play and they are so much more receptive when they are enjoying themselves.
Providing a wide range of experiences to stimulate their curiosity, investigating areas of their own interest and developing each child’s confidence, resilience and independence underpins our program.
Children’s literature, drama and music are areas of great interest to me, as is encouraging children’s appreciation for our natural environment.
Guiding and being part of the children’s development across the kinder year is especially fulfilling for Via and me, as are the wonderful relationships forged within our kinder community. Achieving an overall rating of ‘Exceeding’ through the assessment process has recognised the quality of our kindergarten programs and we feel further encouraged to consistently strive to not only maintain, but improve, the quality of our service.

Bernadette

3 Year Old Co-Educator

Hello I am Bernadette. I began working at Yarraleen Pre-School in 1999 as a 3 year old assistant. I completed my Certificate III in Childrens Services and have worked at pre-schools in Doncaster, Diamond Creek, South Morang, Greensborough and Templestowe for over 20 years.
I believe children learn many life skills through play and interacting with other children.
I look forward to meeting each family and developing a relationship with your child as they embark on their kindergarten learning journey.

Via

4 Year Old Co-Educator

Hello, my name is Via, I am the Assistant Educator of the four year old Rainbow group at Yarraleen Preschool.
I have a Certificate 3 and Diploma in Children’s Services [Early Childhood Education and Care] 2013 – 2014 and actively gained experience in early childhood education through work placements at various early childhood settings and volunteered for 4 years at the kindergarten my children attended. I have also been involved with the committee of management, co-ordinating fundraising events to help raise money for materials and equipment for the kindergarten.
I also have 2 beautiful boys of my own who keep me on my toes and are always entertaining. Interacting with children and getting to know their personalities is a rewarding experience.
My Philosophy is based on the belief that children develop best through play-based learning, allowing them to explore their environment and to find their place within the community. Children are capable in constructing their own learning through their interests, interaction with others and asking questions to understand and know more. As an educator we need to observe, guide and encourage such exploration, communication and collaboration, as well as proving a safe, fun and stimulating environment.
I look forward to welcoming your child and family into our kinder community and being part of your child’s learning experience.
